And my #1 favorite horror movie of all time is Dracula (1979).

Starring Frank Langella, Laurence Olivier, Donald Pleasence, and Kate Nelligan.

This was the first horror movie I ever saw and it made an impact. I was really young — maybe 4 or 5 — and my parents were out for the evening. The babysitter was not paying attention to what I was watching on the TV in my parent’s bedroom. It was my horror-movie awakening. I’ve seen better versions of Dracula, but this was my first, and you always remember your first. It was also the first “sex scene” I’d ever watched — it had flying and lasers and was set to a John Williams soundtrack and it set the bar unfortunately high for my poor husband. (I’m still waiting on the lasers.)
So, if you have a hankering for handsome Romanian counts, ships, sea storms, cliff-top mansions that double as insane asylums, drinking human blood, Laurence Freakin’ Olivier, SEX LASERS, evil vampires burning to ashes, and capes flying away in the wind, this may turn you on.
Thanks for reading my 15 favorite horror movies of all time. I hope you enjoyed it.
